Betting rules in Texas Hold’em

The three main forms of Texas Hold’em are

  • No Limit
  • Pot Limit
  • Limit

There are four rounds of betting in all these games and the rules are discussed below.

Pre-Flop Betting

This betting is also known as blind betting which is made by all players before the hole cards are dealt. Two types of blind betting dine which include small blind and big blind like CLUBPOKER. The amount of big blind is equal to the double amount of small blind.

The player sitting to the left of the dealer makes a small blind bet and the player sitting next to him makes the big blind. In each game, the dealer is changed. This is done to change the player sitting to the left of the dealer who has to make a small blind bet.

The first player to bet

First betting is made by the player sitting to the left of the person who has made big blind. After, each player has to perform different actions in a clockwise direction. These actions include call, fold, and raise. A player who calls the big blind should put the amount, which is equal to the amount of big blind.

If a player folds the bet, he has to discard his cards and he cannot play or continue the game. A player, who raises the bet, raises the amount of pot. This betting round ends after all the players has taken any of the three actions.

Flop

This round does not have any blind and the person sitting to the left of the dealer has to start taking action. The player can either bet or check. Here check means that player remains in the game and first betting chance is passed on to the next player. If the next player makes a bet, the other players cannot check. They have to raise, fold, or call the bet.

Turn to bet

The rules of betting in this round are the same as that of the second round.

River

In this round, all the players have to show their complete cards and can take actions similar to the third betting round.
